Swedish Mill Bohler Steel has given a quotation for the supply of the special tram rails to be used for the reintroduction of trams to Fishergate. These rails will allow Fishergate to be upgraded to a shared space, making shopping and walking in the street more pleasant and safer.
New planning applications will shortly be submitted for another section of the GUILD tramway, and also to erect a wind generator. This will mean that that GUILD trams will run on GREEN power and be fully sustainable. The wind generator will be located in the PARK AND RIDE site on Bluebell Way, which will be re-opened to allow commuters from outside Preston, to use the tram to finish their trips into the City. This will reduce traffic congestion and pollution.
